Supporting Women Through
Pregnancy and Birth
The word doula comes from the ancient Greek and means "a woman who serves." This term is now used to describe a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, informational, and spiritual support to a mother (and her birth team and family) during pregnancy, birth and in her postpartum period. Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, and babies are healthier and breastfeed more easily well as mothers are more satisfied with their birthing experience.
Whether you choose to labor with or without medication, in a hospital or at home, naturally or surgically, your doula will support you. She will lend your her vast knowledge, wisdom and experience to help you to make and confidently stand by the best decisions for you and your birth story.
