Birth Work

My Philosophy

Birth is a powerful experience that deserves our utmost respect. Every birth, every mother, and and every family is unique. I love the work I do. Though it is not always easy, I would not change a thing. I am constantly amazed that this is my life.

I have a wonderful relationship with the staff at our hospital as well as the midwives. Whether you choose a hospital or home birth; a water birth, to birth in bed, or surgical birth; and to birth with a midwife or physician, I support you and your choice of birth place as well as your choice of caregiver.

I am blessed that birth work chose me before I went searching for it. I am forever grateful to the hundreds of mothers who have helped to teach me how amazing pregnancy and birth truly are. I am honored to be part of your birth team and story, and support you as you journey into the wonderful world of motherhood.

"I cannot say enough good things about our doula, Allison Crick. The support we received during labour and throughout my pregnancy was amazing. Having someone there to support myself and my partner during labour took so much pressure off of us. I was able to focus solely on the birth and he was able to help me as much as possible. I had a great birth and I don't know how I could have done it without Allison!" Nicole H
My Story

I am a wife, a mother of four grown, amazing children, and a "Grammie" of eight beautiful blessings. I was honored to have attended the births of all eight of our grandchildren.

Birth doula work, for me, began when I was pregnant with my second child. I had the honor of attending a friend's delivery of her first child. I remember driving home after the birth and was overcome with emotion, saying to myself "I have to do this." It is still such a vivid moment in my memory after many years. That is when my birth work began. I have been a certified Birth Doula through DONA International (www.dona.org) for many, many years now.I have attended well over 700 births. What an absolute blessing is has been to be a birth doula. I am also a DONA certified Birth Doula Trainer and I absolutely love the paying it forward work during my workshops. This is my passion.

.

I have also been a Lamaze-certified holistic prenatal teacher (www.lamaze.org). In our classes I love to witness women (and their partners) engage in their pregnancies and births. In the classes it is always a joy to see you transform from perhaps fear or nervousness to confidence. You will have those moments of enlightenment. Those are my favorite.

"Allison Crick was present at the birth of my first child and I will not have it any other way for any subsequent births. She shared her wealth of knowledge and wisdom with my husband and I, and bolstered our confidence in the birthing process. Labour and delivery is an inevitable and daunting part of pregnancy and it made me very nervous. Allison, with her support, experience and rock-solid confidence in me, helped me to find my poise and belief that I would absolutely rock the birth of my son. She is encouraging, accepting, non-judgmental and incredibly empowering." Kim M.
